The space

Originally an18th Century outbuilding the Studio has been thoughtfully converted to provide a comfortable contemporary mezzanine self-contained apartment.

The living area is double height and spacious with a large 'L'shaped sofa with TV plus dining table and chairs. The bedroom is on the mezzanine floor with views from the wrap-around window and down into the living room. There is a king-sized bed plus an Ercol day-bed, chest of drawers and room for a travel cot.

The bathroom is on the ground floor and is slate lined with a walk-in shower.

There is a small kitchen (kettle, hob, fridge, toaster) to prepare breakfasts and light meals. 
Guests can park safely and securely in my courtyard which is adjacent to the Studio..

What is provided

There will be tea and fresh coffee in the kitchen as well as these breakfast items so that guests can remain completely private and eat breakfast whenever they like:

Cereal, muesli, granola, fruit, bread, butter, jams, and milk. I supply organic, fair-trade and locally sourced food wherever possible and can supply dairy-free if required.

Books, magazines, games, Wi-Fi, local maps, information and guide books.​ There are bath products and towels. A high-chair and toys are available.

The neighbourhood

Painswick is a beautiful Cotswold stone village dating back to the 1100's. It is known as

the 'Queen of the Cotswolds'. St Mary's churchyard contains many carved stone table top tombs as well as the wonderfully wonky 99 topiary yew trees.

There are fantastic walks from the village including the Cotswold Way and many footpaths through the woods and hills including the village of Slad with The Woolpack, made famous by Laurie Lee and the Woolpack pub. Other pubs, cafes and restaurants in Painswick are in easy walking distance. 

 

Getting around

There are local buses and trains from Stroud are 90 minutes to London. Nearby towns include Stroud, Nailsworth, Tetbury, Gloucester and Cheltenham. I can arrange local cabs for journeys to and from stations or pubs and restaurants.

 

Other things to note

I am happy for you to bring your well behaved dog for which there is a small charge. Clothes can be laundered at an agreed fee. There is also safe storage for bikes and a hose for washing them down.
